Shree Rameshwaram Jyotirling Temple
Shree Rameshwaram Jyotirlinga, located on Rameshwaram Island in Tamil Nadu, is one of the twelve sacred Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva and holds immense significance in Hinduism. It is also one of the Char Dham pilgrimage sites, making it a key spiritual destination.
According to legend, Lord Rama worshipped Shiva here to seek blessings before crossing to Lanka. The temple is famous for its massive corridors, intricately carved pillars, and sacred 22 theerthams (holy water tanks) used for ritual purification.
Set near the sea, the Ramanathaswamy Temple houses the Jyotirlinga and symbolizes unity between Shaivism and Vaishnavism. Devotees visit to seek forgiveness, purification, and spiritual peace, especially during festivals like Mahashivratri.
